Wilson Cruz Out 100

This week the 2020 Out 100 was unveiled. After months of working on this, one of the four covers revealed was long time client Wilson Cruz. It is eye catching, Internet breaking stuff. This was created entirely during the pandemic, so it is something I wanted to blog about. When we knew in June that Wilson may be honored with the cover as the TV Honoree we knew we needed really incredible photos. We didn’t have any and not many people were doing shoots. Hop to the rescue Drew and Derek Riker who created this incredible safe environment for Wilson to walk in, feel great and safe and take some photos! And as I was in NY with an ill family member, the fact that Wilson’s wonderful groomer Kimberly was willing to come out and do this with us, made it even more wonderful. When we got the photos back we had 4,000 to choose from. That’s right, 4000! We went through them and selected the ones we wanted to send to OUT (for any of you media people reading this there are still plenty of exclusive images for the next go around) and then we waited. We knew he was going to be on the cover but choosing the right photo - those amazing editors David and Diane - well I was a little nervous. And then like magic it all came together and we waited again… I’ve never waited so long for a cover to come out with such anticipation in my entire career! And then we had to place the exclusive. So quickly I called my contact at GMA who was a fan of Wilson’s and worked with the OUT PR people to make the reveal even that more exciting. It was a stressful few days. However all worth it to see this all come together. Wilson deserved this honor and am grateful to OUT for seeing that, believing in him and the work he does for the LBGTQ community… and since this is “my blog,” I’m pretty proud of myself too lol!
